Young Enterprise Scheme
The School of Business and Economics is proud to support
The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) in the Canterbury and Top of South regions.
The scheme is an exciting and practical way for young people to learn about the risks and rewards of going into business. Entrepreneurship is an integral part of business in New Zealand and the School is committed to helping build an enterprising region in Canterbury. Find out more on the YES Canterbury website
2016 YES Regional Awards
The YES Regional Awards are held in Term 4 to acknowledge the hard work of the YES companies and celebrate their successes.
The 2016 Canterbury Regional Awards were held on 27 October at the University of Canterbury. Congratulations to the two regional winning teams: Tribal from St Thomas of Canterbury College, and Student Direct Tutoring from St Andrew's College. Congratulations also to the two recipients of the UC Young Enterprise Scheme Student of the Year Scholarships for 2017: Danielle Ackland and Timothy Marshall.
YES Enterprise Day (E-Day)
Students at E Day
Central to the School's support of the programme is the sponsorship of the YES Enterprise Day (E-Day). Normally held in late February or early March, E-Day brings around 250 budding entrepreneurs together to launch the Canterbury YES competition for the year.
Hosted by the School of Business and Economics, E-Day brings together students and teachers from across Canterbury. Product ideas are pitched to advisors and mentors from the University of Canterbury School of Business and Economics, the Entre team, and experts from the business community. E-Day gives students the opportunity to develop their business ideas, interact with business mentors and meet other competitors.
YES Canterbury E-Day was held on Wednesday 2 March 2016 at UC.
